Kellie Orcutt
Camp Director
Hi! I’m Kellie, the Camp Director for Young People’s Day Camp of North Jersey. I’ve been part of the YPDC family for over 10 years, and I’m proud to be stepping into my third summer as director of our North Jersey location.
When I’m not running around camp, I’m in the classroom as a special education teacher in Newark Public Schools. I absolutely love what I do—helping kids grow, learn, and have fun is what I’m all about! Whether it’s a camp activity or a classroom lesson, I bring lots of energy, creativity, and heart to everything I do.
When I’m off the clock, you’ll usually find me out on a hiking trail or deep in a Disney daydream (I’m a big fan—Mickey ears and all!). I’m so excited for another summer full of adventure, laughter, and unforgettable memories with our amazing campers!
Lauren Wasserman
Activities Director
Miss Lauren here! I'm the Activities Director at Young People's Day Camp in North Jersey. Not only do I get to run the themed activities, I curate the daily schedule to fit the needs of our campers. I welcome questions from staff on behaviors and teacher techniques to encourage our campers.
Fun Fact: Miss Kellie and I work together in Newark Public Schools AND we are both Special Education Teachers. I work with middle school students preparing them for the expectations of high school. My passion for education drives the learning in the classroom. You can best believe I bring the same enthusiasm to camp (if not more!).
As a person who loves adventure, I can be found with my dog by my side, exploring when outside the classroom and YPDC. We have traversed different dog friendly beaches, trails and cities. As cliche as it is, my dog is my best friend. With that being said, I'm ready to say yippee all summer at YPDC!
John Alba
Health Director/Camper Support
Hi! I’m John, the Health Director at Young People’s Day Camp. My role is to make sure every camper stays safe, healthy, and supported throughout the day. I oversee all health-related needs, including first aid, medication, and ensuring we are always prepared to respond quickly to any situation.
I also help maintain a structured and positive camp environment by working closely with campers and staff to reinforce expectations and support behavior in a calm and consistent way.
When I’m not at camp, you’ll usually find me at the gym, training in karate, or playing guitar. I enjoy staying active and finding ways to recharge, whether that’s getting outside for a walk or relaxing with a video game. I enjoy working with kids and helping create a structured, positive environment where they feel supported and able to have a great day at camp.
